Acoustic Panel Installation
Car speaker installation?
I am planning on purchasing a pair of Boston Acoustic S75 4×6 speakers for the front doors of my 2001 Cavalier. What else will I need? A wiring harness? Brackets? And what possible difficulties would I run into if I were to install them myself? Will I have to remove the door panels? Will the window crank get in the way? I would like to do it myself to save money and learn something new. Would you recommend me doing it myself? I have never installed speakers before. Any advice is appreciated.
I have heard some people say that Crutchfield is wrong sometimes about what will fit and what won’t. I went to a car audio store and the person working looked at my car, looked up some stuff about it, and recommended I get the Boston S75, so I assume that he thinks they will fit. If it were up to Crutchfield, almost nothing would fit in my car which is weird because it is a pretty common vehicle.
Crutchfield usually errors on the side of caution…if you are a first time installer I would listen to what they say unless you are prepared to do major modifications on the install, I’ve ordered from Crutchfield and they send you the brackets that fit your speakers and the car its very easy with the least amount of hassle..Sometimes other speakers will fit too…I would ask the local shop what modifications are needed and the cost…if you can find out how they are going to do it…then maybe you could do the same thing on your own…
