Which handhelp mp3 recorder gives the best bang for the buck?

I’ve been looking at the Zoom H2 and the Roland Edirol R-09 WAVE. Any others?

I highly recommend the R09…

I bought the Edirol a few months ago, and fell in love with it…I took it with me on a trip through North Africa and Europe, and I’m really impressed with the sound quality (even through the internal multi-directional mics). Everything from ambient noise to dialog to street music is clear. Also liked the fact that it uses the standard SD card (which are really cheap now!). The interface and sound options are also super easy to learn.

I also liked the fact that it is so small — even smaller than the Zoom (if I remember correctly)…

I don’t have any experience with the Zoom, but I heard decent things about it…If you can, I’d recommend comparing them side by side in a music store. However, for sound quality, I can totally vouch for the R09.
