What are the Akashic Records and How Can They Help Me?

Put very simply, your Akashic Record is the energetic recording of your soul’s journey since your beginning. It is everything about you, all around you, and within you. It is everything you are, have been, and the potentials you are yet to become. It is a special field of energy that permeates your entire being. It is not something separate from you, but an integral part of you. I believe the Akashic Records are living, changing “documents.” As you change, heal, and grow, your Akashic Records are ‘updated’ to reflect those changes.

As you can imagine, your Akashic Records hold an infinite amount of information. There is no end to the information you can explore about yourself and your relationships with others when working in the Akashic Records. The information is always presented to you in a loving and compassionate way from your Divine Spiritual Family (father/mother God/Goddess, God/Goddess, Spirit, Universe, Source, Ascended Masters, Archangels, loved ones, etc.).

There are specific beings/energetic aspects that specialize in the energy field of the Akashic Records, and I call them the Record Keepers. I believe that in the end we are all ONE. So when I refer to the Record Keepers as “other beings,” I also understand that they are just another aspect of me, from my perspective, and another aspect of each of you from your perspectives. For ease of discussion purposes I may refer to them as “beings” or as “energetic aspects.” So these beings, the Record Keepers, are also a part of your Divine Spiritual Family. These Divine beings have always been at your side eagerly waiting to assist you. Out of respect for your free will, they do wait until you initiate contact and ask for help. Using the method taught in this book is really just assisting you to create a user friendly way of asking for guidance and receiving it!

The information that is obtained from your Akashic Records is a direct result of your questions. Your questions guide the Record Keepers and Ascended Masters to the “right” energetic space to retrieve the answers that you are ready to know. Notice the key words ready to know. . .

Sometimes we think we are ready to know something, but in reality we are not. In those times, the answers seem to elude us, only to become crystal clear in the oddest and most unlikely moments. Or as I like to say, in the Divine right moment!

Imagine an infinite apple orchard full of apple trees which are chock full of apples. Each apple holds the key to different experiences your Soul has had, and each tree represents themes that you have experienced throughout your Soul’s journey. When you want to know a certain piece of information, you have to come up with a way to direct the Record Keepers to the right tree and then to the right apple. By choosing the right apple, you will get the information you are seeking, which will facilitate your healing and growth.

The Record Keepers are the energetic aspects that tend to these immense apple orchards, and when you ask a question it helps to guide them to the correct tree. The more specific your question, the closer you get to the specific apple that holds the piece of information you are seeking. The potential for healing occurs when you are able to really get down to the “core” of an issue, the seed of knowledge and wisdom that is hidden within the specific apple. Often the awareness of the core cause of an issue is enough to create the energetic shift that results in a healing.*Other times you will need to put into practice the insights that you were given in order to manifest the energetic shift in your Akashic Records. Putting it into practice could be as simple as making a new choice when confronted with a repetitive pattern. *healing: A shift in energetic frequency to the next higher level of divine love and light, which may manifest in the spiritual, physical, mental, or emotional realms.

There is an unlimited potential for healing when working with the energy of the Akashic Records. The extent of the healing itself is directly related to your level of commitment and intent to heal yourself.

Once you set your intent within yourself that you are ready to do your inner work, the Record Keepers readily come forward to assist you as best they can. Like all other Divine aspects of energy the Record Keepers radiate upon you the energy of Divine Love and provide guidance when you ask or when you make it known in some way that you want help. Your Divine Spiritual Family would never interfere with your free will. Therefore, you must initiate the connection and ask for what you want or need. They are eagerly awaiting your initiation and are ready to respond. Having a strong, clear connection with your inner wisdom is more than a gift. It is a Divinely-given right. You do not have to earn this special talent. It is not something that is only for the chosen few. It is for everyone who takes the time to make it known that they want it!

As a co-creator of your reality it is up to you to initiate change in your life. First you must ask for help, then you must be willing to put to use the information you receive. It is always your choice; but if you don’t put into practice what you are learning, then nothing in your life is going to change. You know the old saying, “the definition of insanity is to keep doing what you have always done and expect to get different results!”

Our Divine Family of Light sends us messages and guidance all of the time. It is up to us to either acknowledge those messages or ignore them. They plant the seeds of light and knowledge, and wait for us to nurture those seeds. They wait patiently as we allow those seeds to mature into wisdom. They also watch with infinite compassion and acceptance if and when we choose to squash those seeds instead of nurturing them! They radiate us with the same loving energy even if we choose to make the same old choices and create the same old patterns, essentially ignoring any guidance they were trying to provide. That is what free will is all about. You always have the right to choose without worry of being judged by your Divine Family. The main purpose for working in your Akashic Records is not to receive mandates about what to do with your life or how to live your life, but to provide you with the information, knowledge, and wisdom you need to broaden your perspective, allowing you to make healthier choices. In other words, working with the energy of the Akashic Records provides you with the support you need to grow and evolve personally and spiritually.

When you have clear intent that you are ready to heal all aspects of your life, then your true work begins. Spirit responds to your requests to heal and provides you with the opportunities for growth. Each time something comes up for you in your life that pushes your buttons, it is Spirit’s way of providing you with an opportunity for growth. It has always been this way. The difference is that now you will have the ability to go into your Records, dig around, explore, and uncover the core of the issue at hand. Once you have uncovered the core issue, you are able to begin the healing process.

The Record Keepers are waiting with anticipation for you to begin this personal and spiritual journey. The moment you made the conscious decision to read this book, they were able to move even closer to your being. They have always been at your service, but were unable to interfere. When you chose this book, you were sending a message to them that you are ready, willing, and able. In response to your actions, they are able to step closer. They want you to learn how to connect with them and your own inner wisdom more easily so that they may be of more assistance to you during this time of growth. Self discovery, spiritual growth, and personal growth are all important parts of your healing process. Through your connection with your Akashic Records and your Divine Spiritual Family, you will experience deeper and deeper levels of self-empowerment and self-direction as you discover the euphoria of going within to connect directly with your Divine Source.

With each visit to your Akashic Records, you have the potential to heal another piece of yourself. With each healing/shift of energy, you feel more and more complete and whole. The more complete you feel, the harder it is for anyone or any situation to knock you off balance again. You are able to maintain longer and longer periods of peacefulness and centeredness each and every day.

With each visit to your Akashic Records, you also come to understand more and more of your true nature, your Soul and Spirit nature, your co-creative God/Goddess nature. The work is not always easy, but it is definitely worth it.

This superlative concert video is a godsend for fans of Electric Light Orchestra, since ELO’s Zoom tour was cut short, sadly, because of lackluster ticket sales. Amour (Broadway Premiere Recording)

Amour (Broadway Premiere Recording)

$18.98

Amour, an English adaptation of the French musical La Passe-Muraille, with music by Michel Legrand, opened on Broadway on October 20, 2002, and closed after only 17 performances, making it, in theater terms, a flop. Notwithstanding its failure to find an American audience, the show earned five Tony nominations: for best musical, best score (Legrand and Jeremy Sams), best book (Sams), best actor (Malcolm Gets), and best actress (Melissa Errico). In part, all those nominations are evidence of the dearth of new musicals on Broadway, but they also reflect the considerable quality of the show, and the production. Bravely, Sh-K-Boom Records undertook a cast album six months after the closing, and the recording (which, due to the musical’s brevity, captures just about all of it in 74-plus minutes) demonstrates that quality. Legrand’s music has a sprightly pop charm reminiscent of his film scores, particularly The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, and Sams’ rhyme-filled lyrics are witty and amusing. The magical story of an ordinary man who comes to walk through walls and thereby achieves fame and love (for a time), is light and amusing with a touch of sadness, and it is performed delicately by an accomplished small cast and band. The result is a wonderful pocket musical that probably should have opened Off-Broadway, where it might have attracted the kind of cult following that kept The Fantasticks running for decades, rather than on Broadway, where it clearly could not compete with the giant spectacles currently dominating the musical theater. As it is, it may attract many regional and amateur productions when people get to hear its entertaining score on this disc. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music GuidePerformers: Anthony Geralis – Celeste, Piano; Ben Kono – Woodwind; Dan Moses Schreier – Sound Effects; Todd Ellison – Piano; Bill Hayes – Percussion; Mark Vanderpoel – Bass

After leaving the cast of NBC’s Rowan & Martin’s Laugh-In (1969-1970), Lily Tomlin began developing many of the characters she first unleashed on the groundbreaking weekly prime-time comedy series. Her debut LP, This Is a Recording, was originally issued in 1971 and contains observations by Tomlin both in and out of her beloved Ernestine — the telephone operator from hell — character. Her one-woman show was captured in front of an audience in the intimate confines of the Ice House in Pasadena, CA. Although a majority of the album is performed in character, Tomlin occasionally steps out as a narrative voice giving hilarious biographical info about Ernestine. She commences the proceedings with a brief monologue regarding factors and persons (read: “Alexander Graham Bell”) motivating Ernestine to begin embarking upon her career as a public servant in the telephonic arts. Tomlin again steps from behind her switchboard for the last band on each side of the original LP. Those tracks — “Peeved” and “I.B.M.” — contain brief observations on dealing with Ma Bell from a consumer’s perspective. The multiple dimensions that Tomlin brings to Ernestine are displayed within her interactions with the general public on “Mr. Veedle,” “Obscene Phone Call,” “Strike,” “Boswick,” and “The Bordello.” Ernestine’s occasional brush with well-known customers is documented on tracks such as “The Mafia and the Pope” and notably “Joan Crawford.” In the latter scene, Ernestine demands the actress — who was concurrently a CEO at the Pepsi Cola Company — refund her dime, which was lost in a cola machine. Even more uproarious is “The F.B.I.,” which pits J. Edgar Hoover against Ernestine, who associates the name with the vacuum cleaner dynasty, claiming that “everybody knows there is nothing like a Hoover when you’re dealing with dirt.” ~ Lindsay Planer, All Music Guide

Guys & Dolls (First Complete Recording)

Guys & Dolls (First Complete Recording)

$34.98

Recorded in London in June 1995, this is billed as the “first complete recording” of Guys and Dolls, which means that its two CDs contain extra dance music, underscoring, and dialogue for the longest version of the score yet issued on disc. Also thrown in as a bonus are the three songs written for the movie version and one song, “Travelling Light,” that was written for the show but cut from it. Since George Bassman and Ted Royal’s original orchestrations have been used (Larry Moore did new charts for the bonus material), this album is an important addition to the theater music library, including much music never before recorded. But beyond that, the performances are for the most part outstanding. There have been too many poorly accented British versions of this very American show, and there are a few poor accents here, too, notably Tim Flavin’s as Nathan Detroit. Flavin’s idea of an appropriate accent is to throw in an occasional exaggerated mispronunciation, and otherwise sing straight, which tends to mar “Fugue for Tinhorns” and “The Oldest Established,” since Don Stephenson and David Green share his articulation problems. But Americans have been cast in the major singing roles, and each of them is exceptional. Gregg Edelman captures Sky Masterson’s swagger, Kim Criswell seems to be channeling the original Adelaide, Vivian Blaine, and Emily Loesser, the daughter of the show’s songwriter, Frank Loesser, naturally knows her way around the Sarah Brown songs. Edelman and Criswell display enough chemistry that they ought to do the show onstage sometime. The result is an outstanding studio cast recording of Guys and Dolls that compares favorably with the original Broadway cast recording and the 1992 Broadway revival cast recording, and features far more music than either of them. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music GuidePerformers: Pamela Baxter – Choir, Chorus; Elaine Boxall – Choir, Chorus; Karen Broughton – Choir, Chorus; Danielle Carson – Choir, Chorus, Vocals (Background); David Cavendish – Choir, Chorus; Nicolas Colicos – Choir, Chorus, Vocals; Dominic Curtis – Choir, Chorus; Robert Fardell

Hairspray (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

Hairspray (Original Broadway Cast Recording)

$13.98

John Waters’ engaging 1988 film Hairspray received a musical comedy makeover in 2002 that became a bona fide Broadway hit. The original cast album immediately reveals the foundation of the show’s success through its winning combination of clever lyrics by Scott Wittman and Marc Shaiman, a bouncy rock & roll sound courtesy of composer Marc Shaiman, and dynamic performances by the entire cast. Composer Shaiman, who also composed the music for another genuinely funny (movie) musical, South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, gives his music a boundless energy that works both as knowing ’60s pastiche and solidly effective musical comedy scoring. As heroine Tracy Turnblad, Marissa Jaret Winokur’s bubbly vocals light up numbers like the opening “Good Morning, Baltimore” and “I Can Hear the Bells,” while Linda Hart gives a sneeringly funny performance of “Miss Baltimore Crabs.” Other standout numbers include the Dick Latessa and Harvey Fierstein duet “(You’re) Timeless to Me” and the penultimate number, “Cooties” (which boasts lyrics like: “Grew up in a cootie zoo/I bet her two-ton mama’s/Got ‘em too!”). It’s fun, it’s catchy, it’s funny — it’s one of the best comic musical albums since Little Shop of Horrors, All Music GuidePerformers: Francisco Centeno – Bass (Electric); Stephanie Cummins – Cello; David Mann – Reeds; Dave Riekenberg – Reeds; Martin Agee – Violin; Danny Cahn – Trumpet; Peter Calo – Guitar; Keith Cotton – Keyboards; Clint DeGanon – Drums; Seth Farber – Keyboards; Birch Johnson – Trombone; Laura Oatts – Violin; Carol Pool – Violin;

Xanadu [Original Broadway Cast Recording]

Xanadu [Original Broadway Cast Recording]

$19.98

Xanadu, the poorly received 1980 movie musical that was a remake of the 1947 movie musical Down to Earth (itself part of a long tradition of goddess-meets-modern-mortals stories that includes such Broadway musicals-turned-movies as I Married an Angel and One Touch of Venus), remains memorable for only one thing: its soundtrack. The album that accompanied the film sold two million copies and spawned five Top 40 hits for hapless star Olivia Newton-John and the Electric Light Orchestra. (The songwriting was split between Newton-John’s personal composer John Farrar and ELO’s Jeff Lynne.) Bad as the movie may have been, the music probably was what made it seem a bankable prospect for stage adaptation, especially considering that among the four songs interpolated into the score are three more old ELO and Newton-John hits, “Evil Woman,” “Strange Magic,” and “Have You Never Been Mellow.” The producers of the show seem to have been aiming at the approach that made Mamma Mia! a hit, that sort of guilty pleasure aspect of people’s helpless enjoyment of the pop music of their adolescence, mixed with a bit of the send-up quality of, say, The Rocky Horror Show. ~ William Ruhlmann, RoviPerformers: Kerry Butler – Vocals; Annie Golden – Vocals; Erik Halvorson – Drums; Curtis Holbrook – Vocals; Cheyenne Jackson – Vocals; Anika Larsen – Vocals; Karl Mansfield – Keyboards; Eric Stern – Keyboards; Mary Testa – Vocals; AndrĂ© Ward – Vocals

Tenderloin [2000 New York Concert Cast Recording]

Tenderloin [2000 New York Concert Cast Recording]

$11.98

Broadway musicals can fail for many reasons that have nothing to do with how good the score is. New York’s “City Center Encores! Great American Musicals in Concert” program is devoted to resurrecting scores that outshone the forgettable shows they accompanied and presenting them in concert performances, some of which have also been recorded. The 1960 musical Tenderloin, mounted in 2000, was a perfect choice for the series. It was put together by the creative team that had been responsible for the Pulitzer Prize-winning hit Fiorello! the year before, and it was patterned after that show. Once again, a long-ago era of New York was the setting for the story of a man battling corruption. But instead of Mayor Fiorello LaGuardia overcoming graft during the Depression, Tenderloin was about a minister trying to close down the city’s red light district in the late 19th century. The straitlaced Dr. Brock was no match for the colorful LaGuardia, however, and graft is more objectionable to most people than illicit sex. As such, audiences weren’t sure who to root for. The show got bad reviews and ran only six months. But composer Jerry Bock and lyricist Sheldon Harnick’s score was praised and proved popular: Bobby Darin made a Top 20 hit out of “Artificial Flowers,” and the original Broadway cast recording was a Top 20 LP that remained on the charts longer than the show stayed on the boards. As such, a version cutting much of the book and emphasizing the songs could only seem like a good thing. And it is. Veteran David Ogden Stiers takes the part of Dr. Brock, played on Broadway by Shakespearean actor Maurice Evans, and though he can’t do a lot to enliven it, his voice is up to the songs, which he sings with authority, especially “What’s in It for You?” and “Good Clean Fun.” Patrick Wilson, as the tabloid reporter Tommy, suitably hams his way through “Artificial Flowers” (which, in the context of the show, was intended sarcastically) and revels in “The Picture of Happiness,” a song about a woman who profits from being compromised. Debbie Gravitte, as Nita, a high-priced hooker, suggests that “My Gentle Young Johnny” should have been a hit outside the theater, and she leads the company through the rousing “How the Money Changes Hands,” the first act finale, a comic song clearly intended to occupy the same place in this show that “Little Tin Box” did in Fiorello! This, only the second recording of Tenderloin ever made, is just a bit longer than the first, with occasional lines of dialogue. While it cannot be described as an improvement over the original Broadway cast recording, it is a well-performed substitute that makes the case for the show as among the better works by the songwriters responsible for Fiorello!, She Loves Me, and Fiddler on the Roof. ~ William Ruhlmann, All Music GuidePerformers: John Campo – Bassoon, Clarinet, Clarinet (Bass), Flute,
